Calella

Well I finally got around to getting the pictures from Spain developed. This is Hugh at the end of the holiday sitting by the beach with a embarrassingly healthy tan. We went to a beach resort in Spain called Calella. It's an hour train journey north of barcelona, and is full to the brim of German and English families. The beach is absolutely beautiful. The water front seems very rough with strong waves, and it gets deep pretty quickly, but after that it's perfectly calm. There are small pontoons moored around 100m into the water with slides and stuff that you can swim out to, and there are bars dotted along the beach where you can get scandallously priced sangria. The town itself is lovely. It's very much geared towards cheesy tourism, but there are lovely restaurants and lovely little shops everywhere too. Our hotel was great too with 3 pools and buffet breakfast and dinner, a 5 minute walk from the beach front.

This is a waterfall we found in a park at the far end of the town away from the beach. It was full of long winding dirt paths leading up through the mountains and would have been perfect for mountain biking or jogging if we had felt arsed to try.

This is a house in the middle of Calella with hundreds of crazy cactii growing all over it.
